Hannah Lancaster - Week 4

You'd think I'd had gotten a lot more stitching done since we have been snowed in for the last several days.  But I look at last week's photo and it doesn't seem like I made much progress.

Probably cuz the roof seemed to take forever, and the huge house that the roof is attached to, will probably take just as long.

Then to top it off, I had stitched the pots on the left side, and realized that when I stitched the pots on the right side, the ones on the left were done in the wrong color.  Frog!  Rivet, Rivet!

Plus last week went by in a flurry with snowstorm prep.  Getting to the grocery store, running errands with the hubby because all of a sudden the battery went kaputz, and I had to run into all the stores and get stuff, while he kept the truck going.  Last stop was to pick up a new battery.

Lots of stuff you have to do!  Make sure you have plenty of propane for heaters. Put gas in the car, get cash. Do all the laundry in case you lose power. Plus remind my college kids several times each day to remind them to stock up.

That got it bad in Harrisonberg too.  Somewhere below this snow is my daughter's Smart car.

My husband decided today to order a snowblower. Can't believe he waited this long! He went out 3 different times to shovel, trying to keep from shoveling the 24" we received over the weekend, in one try.  He'd still been shoveling as I write this!

Our truck from our bedroom window. Not trying to over dramatize the snow, after all I was born and raised in Michigan. But this type of snow in this area makes people nuts!  People here can barely drive in the rain.

Let's just hope next week is calmer?!  That way I'll have a lot more stitching time.  Till then- happy stitching!

Hannah Lancaster Sampler - Week 3

Plugging away.  Thankfully I can skip around on this beauty because the huge house in the middle is going to be boring!
I'm not even halfway through the roof and bored!

Trouble is, the lines for the roof just keep getting wider with each row. Think I'll stitch on the border for awhile and go back to the roof.

I bought 2 more charts this week.  Don't even ask me why.  There is absolutely no reasonable, rational explanation to a cross stitch addict like me!

One is a take along chart.

Love never fails by Barbara Ana Designs.
The other chart is called Skyros Island Schooner Sampler.

Thought this would be perfect for my youngest son.  Sorta masculine theme but a fun stitch for me.

In the home front.  I'm all caught up on linens and towels from the kids being here for the holidays. I cleaned the guest bedroom, my son's room and the Jack and Jill bathroom.  Tomorrow I will get the intestinal fortitude to open my daughter's bedroom door and see what disaster awaits me!

Happy stitching!

Hannah Lancaster Sampler - Week 2

Little early on my post this week.  But I'm at the point I need to roll the scroll rods.

I have decided that mirror image samplers are not as fun to stitch! But it's not hampering to stop me from completion, now that I have started it.

I also don't have a fondness for charts that once you open them up, find the chart is graphed on poster size paper. Which this one is.  I've had a heck of time copying it, to have something to work off of, rather than wrestling with a huge sheet of paper.

If this chart is in your stash make sure you have lots of certain colors.  I'll have to make note of the ones you'll need more than one skein of.  It's definitely two greens and a brown!  Buy at least 3 skeins of those, 2 of the golds.

Well the holidays are over, our decorations are all down and put away.  Tomorrow both of the youngins head back to college.  It'll be so quiet here.  Although I won't be sorry to see my daughter's dog head back to college!  He's either part woodchuck or termite. Likes to chew on any corner with a 90 degree turn or the rungs of my chairs. Every few days I'm spraying everything down with bitter Apple.  Ugg!  Problem is, I think he likes it!

No clue what's in the pipeline next, but it's something from the 80's to be sure. I have several charts from that circa.
Guess when I'm closer to the end of this one, I'll take a peek!

Until then, happy stitching!

Hannah Lancaster Sampler

Happy New Year!  I officially started my first project of 2016.

This is one of the oldest charts via copyright year in my stash.  Not sure when I actually got the chart, but really doesn't matter since I at least have some sort of organizational chaos to work my way through my stash.

I must say the actual sampler is prettier than is reflected by the chart picture.

The picture shows it as pretty drab and brown. It does have a lot of brown and green but still pretty shades.

Posting my progress thus far, because I will spend the rest of the afternoon running graph lines for the verse, and probably frogging. There is no squiggle room for an error. So I'm gonna have to figure it out before I compound the error any further.

Meanwhile I did add another chart to my stash.  Like I need another project, but it was so pretty.

Happy first week of 2016 stitching!
